Introduction - My Dec. - April Blogs are focused on the GaLearns Effective Online Teaching Course
My name is Larry Singleton, and I have completed the Educational Specialist Degree program in Instructional Technology, and was recognized as the most outstanding 2016 student in that program at Kennesaw State University. I graduated from Kettering University in 1975 with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Administration. I began teaching in 2009 as an "encore" career after fourteen years in the Convention/Trade Show Industry, and twenty years as a Residential Designer/Builder. In 2012 I earned a Master of Arts - Teaching Workforce Education from the University of Georgia.
I currently teach Architectural Drawing and Design and AP Computer Science at McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, GA. I am "called" to bring my talents and experience in Construction and Architecture as well as Industry and Entrepreneurship to the field of Education. I desire to make a positive difference in the system, to the benefit of young people. I want to help them be prepared for the "real world."
I believe that advancements in technology are leading to a paradigm shift in the educational system. I want to combine knowledge and expertise from continuing my education with the real world experiences of my 66 years to help move the eminent changes in education in a positive and productive direction.
The purpose of this portfolio is for me to demonstrate mastery of the PSC Instructional Technology standards and the ISTE NETS-C standards. As you can see, there are a series of links below the KSU logo that you can visit. Of particular importance is the "standards" link. Under this link, you will see a series of artifacts and reflections documenting the important work I have completed during this program. Each artifact represents mastery of the standard under which it is represented.
